Odor Complaint Incidences

The following is a list of dispatched odor complaints, investigations, and findings. 

September 13, 2018, at 9 a.m.

UPDATE: At least two trucks are actively spreading manure on the agricultural property adjacent to the WRCRWA Treatment Plant and there is a strong manure smell at the WRCRWA Treatment Plant and the surrounding area.

COMPLAINT: Rotting Fish odor at River Road and Badger

RESPONSE: Daily odor patrol readings show WRCRWA Plant is in compliance. Weather condition data that is collected will assist staff in further identifying corrective measure and procedures and we will continue to monitor this area and collect data. COMPLAINT: Putrid, fishy, sewage odor from 3-5:30 PM at Badger and Armadillo.

COMPLAINT: Putrid, fishy odor from 4-6:00 PM at Archibald and River Road

COMPLAINT: Very strong odor at 91 freeway just west of the 15 freeway.

RESPONSE: Odor complaint forwarded to the affected agency.

COMPLAINT:  If this is the WRCRWA Plant, Eastvale smells horrible.

RESPONSE: An online Odor Intake Form has been added to this website.  This is a data collection tool designed to enable WRCRWA staff to better analyze and diagnose potential odor sources.  WRCRWA appreciates ongoing communication and will continue to remain diligent in its efforts to be a good neighbor.

COMPLAINT: Odor on River Road in Eastvale.

INVESTIGATION: Odor run conducted.

FINDINGS: Jerome Meter = H2S levels within normal range.

COMPLAINT: Rotting Fish Odor.

INVESTIGATION: Odor run conducted.

FINDINGS: Jerome Meter = H2S levels within normal range.

As a precautionary measure, staff increased the capacity of the volume in the chemical scrubbers.

COMPLAINT: Odor on River Road in Eastvale.

INVESTIGATION: Odor run conducted.

FINDINGS: Jerome Meter = H2S levels within normal range. No plant odors detected in a housing tract.  Watered grass and tree odors observed. Trash cans throughout the housing tract with lids open.

COMPLAINT: Chemical smell for the past 30 minutes. Ongoing rotten fish smell.

INVESTIGATION: Odor run conducted at 11:20 AM.

FINDINGS: Jerome Meter = Non-detect. No detected odor matched odors described in the complaint.

COMPLAINT: Rotting fish sewage smell near River.

INVESTIGATION: Odor run conducted at 7:40 PM.

FINDINGS: Jerome Meter = Non-detect. No detected odor and plant processes normal.

February 23, 2018 @ 1:01 PM

COMPLAINT: Odor smelling heavily of chemicals and human waste.

INVESTIGATION: Odor run conducted at 1:08 PM. Drive to complainant's address, opened manhole in front of the house, no odors detected and the shelf in the bottom was clean and dry. Minimal water in storm drain catch basin adjacent of complainant's address. No odors detected.

FINDINGS: No manholes or odor sources located. All locations within the facility were tested and compliant.
